Let’s collect pine cones! – JD, 4
We spent a perfect sunny Sunday in the woods, eating a picnic, collecting pine cones, playing hoopla with bits of willow fashioned into rings.
The warm, clean air in our lungs, the crackle of twigs underfoot, the sound of the forest and the absence of traffic.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love London, but the countryside wins hands-down for me every single time.
All pics in this post were taken with Instagram. I’m linking this post to Coombe Mill’s Country Kids and The Gallery’s ‘sunshine’ theme.

What a lovely photo. The sun through tall trees is just beautiful. I love London for a visit, but I’ll stay in the country anyday
Such beautiful photos . The countryside is the best place to be when it’s sunny x
Beautiful! Like you I adore London in small doses but love the country life! x
There is nothing like being out in the countryside, gorgeous pics x
It’s a no-brainer! That lolly looks good enough to lick.
Wherever you are I think the world seems better when the sun is shining!
I think if I had no children smaller city, like Oxford, would win my vote. London? No, spent 9 years in Budapest and I think I had enough of intense life. For my son Oxfordshire and living in smaller town are perfect. Then I might be biased because of the great quality of our local schools?
And so much more to space for the little ones to run free, countryside gets my vote too :)
I am with you all the way, I love to visit London but love to come home again too! Lovely woodland photos, where are you? Thank you for joining me on Country Kids.
Countryside definitely with occasional city breaks just for a complete change! Those pine cones you collected…you can make great bird feeders with them with the kids for winter. I make these by tying two together with string so they hook over a branch or a hook on the bird table. Then I melt lard in the microwave and mix in various bird food, chopped nuts and raisins and grated cheese and as it starts to set squish it into the cones. Its messy but fun and the birds love it. Just thought I’d waffle on a bit since your mention of pine cones made me think of it!
Countryside all the way. I am not a fan of London. xx
yes I enjoy being in a small town with lots of parks, river and country estate land to walk in
