She’s a very posh baby – JD, 4
Miss J has been crawling around this week draped in a precious metal. Her babygrow, her hat, her dribble bib – all made of silver. Yes, seriously. Ok not 100% silver, but it’s woven into the fabric. Cool, huh?
Why? Because apparently it has healing properties and is great for little ones who have sensitive skin or eczema.
Silver Sense is a clothing company with a difference. The clothes have been developed by husband and wife team, Richard Lamb and Sarah Davies. Richard has a background in medical textiles and Sarah has 15 years experience of product design and development with leading high street retailers.
The result is gorgeous clothing for small people that feels high-quality, looks great and helps keep their skin healthy.
The founders say:
“Silver Sense clothing is made from cotton rich knitted fabrics which are blended with natural fibres of 99.9% pure silver which are manufactured by the renowned medical textiles company X-Static. The therapeutic antimicrobial properties of these silver fibres can help ease the itchiness of eczema and other skin conditions and soothe broken and irritated skin.”
I suffer from eczema, as does JD, and all of us have sensitive skin so this is right up our street. And I’m told an adult clothing line is in the pipeline. Good stuff.
Disclosure: we were sent the items pictured free of charge for review. No payment was received and all reviews are 100% honest.

Interesting. I’ve never heard of the silver thing. Does this work for preventing eczema, or for treating it, or both? We’ve tried several hydrocortisone creams in the past, but then we found a natural baby eczema cream that works pretty well.
Wow, what a fantastic idea!
