Cream and sprinkles party cakes with milk chocolate spoons

You can’t have too many sprinkles – Me

These most definitely do not go on my list of healthy recipes, but they are a lot of fun if you need a centre piece for children’s tea party.

This recipe makes twelve cakes.

Ingredients

  • 200g self raising flour
  • 200g caster sugar
  • 150g softened butter or margarine
  • 2 large eggs
  • 200g milk chocolate
  • 400ml double cream
  • Assorted cake sprinkles
  • 12 hole cake tin
  • 12 fairy cake cases
  • 1 silicone spoon mould – you’ll need to makes 12 spoons
  • Piping bag and large star nozzle

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate in a bowl placed over a bowl of steaming hot (not boiling) water
  2. Divide the chocolate evenly between the 9 spoon moulds and put in the fridge to set
  3. Cream together the fat and sugar
  4. Whisk in the eggs
  5. Sift in the flour and stir with a metal spoon until smooth
  6. Divide the mixture between 12 fairy cake cases in the tin
  7. Cook at 180C (160C fan assisted) for 12-15 mins or until springy on top
  8. Remove from the often and cool completely
  9. Whip the cream until it just holds its shape
  10. Transfer the cream to the piping bag with large star nozzle
  11. Pipe a swirl of cream onto each cake, starting on the outer edge and pulling up when you reach the middle
  12. Sprinkle with whatever decorations you fancy
  13. Take the spoons out of the fridge and remove them from the mould gently, pushing from the wider end so that they don’t snap
  14. Push a spoon into each cake at a 45 degree angle

You’ll need to eat these cakes straight away – if it’s a hot day, they’ll melt!

  6. Is it wrong that this is what I want for breakfast now? I think you should make a whole load of chocolate spoons to replace normal spoons. Imagine how much more fun everything would be (albeit completely impractical, but still).
