Red cookie kisses. A cute Valentine’s cookie recipe

Red cookie kisses. An ADORABLE Valentine's cookie recipe

Daddy, daddy! Mummy’s making little red cookies with GIANT chocolate chips on top and they look AWESOME – JD, 6

I’ve been meaning to use Hershey’s Kisses in a recipe for ages, ever since seeing the craze sweeping Pinterest, and these chewy, sweet little cookie bites go perfectly with the Cookies’n’Creme Kisses on top, while the colour combination means they’d make a perfect Valentine’s Day treat.

This recipe makes 40-50 cookie kisses – enough to make anyone feel loved!

  • 130g butter, softened
  • 50ml/60g golden syrup
  • 160g caster sugar
  • A few drops of vanilla extract
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tsp red or dark pink food colouring gel
  • 235g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 small (140g) packs of Hershey’s Kisses Cookies’n’Creme

Cookie kisses. An ADORABLE Valentine's cookie recipe

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C (180C fan assisted)
  2. Beat the butter, syrup and sugar together until pale and fluffy
  3. Add the egg, vanilla essence and food colouring and beat again
  4. Sieve in the flour and baking powder and fold through until fully combined
  5. If the dough is too sticky to work with at this stage, chill it in the fridge for 10 minutes
  6. Line a baking sheet with baking parchment (greaseproof paper) and roll balls of dough that are just a tiny bit wider in diameter than the bottom of a Hershey kiss – place of the baking sheet approx 1 inch apart
  7. Bake in oven for just 6 minutes, meanwhile unwrap your Hershey kisses
  8. As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, push a kiss into the centre of each one, pushing down gently – the heat will bond the chocolate to the cookie. Don’t press a second time and it will get messy
  9. Leave to cool completely, then store in an airtight container
