I’m painting, mummy! – Miss J, 2
Recently, we tried out Toucan Box, a craft box subscription service for 3-8 year olds which delivers a parcel to your door each month containing a set of age appropriate crafts to build and create.
The box comes personalised with your child’s name and contains only activities that complement the themes you tick as being of interest when you sign up. Every box also includes a set of easy-to-follow, illustrated instructions and how many projects you get depends on your subscription level: one (£3.95), two (£9.95) or four (£16.95).
Here’s how our ‘Grande’ box arrived.
Inside we found:
- 2 activities
- Instruction booklets
- A story book to share together
- A parent card with more ideas and inspiration
- Stickers to collect
JD, Miss J and I started with some free creative play using the pencils provided, then started decorating the postman’s box.
After playing with the post box for a while, writing and posting postcards and making up journey stories, we moved on to the dreamcatcher activity.
This provided a great opportunity to talk about dreams – good and bad, what they mean and why we have them. The kids really enjoyed it.
Overall, I’d say Toucan Box is worth the money as £9.95 is a small price to pay for an afternoon of age-appropriate, tailored crafts, with extension activities still to do and a book we can read many times in the future. We love spending time being creative together as a family everyday, so having some pre-designed activities ready seems like a smart move.
Disclosure: we were sent a box for review.
