This is our living room makeover. It’s gone from cosy but overly cluttered, dingily magnolia den to cool, calm living space in white and grey with exposed wood tops and splashes of saffron.
I love it, Mark loves it, the children love it. We’ve yet to move our crockery in, we think it needs a couple more pictures on the walls (though we love how open and bright it feels right now), and we’ve considering fitting two floating white shelves above the sideboard by the dining table to give a home to some of our books, but apart from that, it’s done!

They came flat packed and were easy to put together with just a crosshead screwdriver and a supplied allen key. Despite the incredibly affordable price tag fool you. The quality of this furniture is exceptional – no veneer, just good quality, solid wood, beautifully put together.
And I love the exposed tops so much, with their rich tones and low gloss, satin sheen. And we adore sitting at the table as a family, just I adore sipping tea and reading a book alone on the bench before everyone else gets up or after everyone else has gone to bed. Bliss!
The dining end of our long living space – previously home to not just a dining table, but all sorts of odds and ends over the years – is a welcoming, defined, functional and bright space at last! You can read more about Noa and Nani’s new ‘grown up’ range here.
At the other end of the room is out lounging space. We got rid of the brown tiles with the help of some primer and tile pain, cleared the clutter from the fire place, and swapped a comfortable but cumbersome L-shaped sofa for a more practical suite of one sofa (£499.00) and two armchairs (£299.00 each) from the House by John Lewis Louis range in Fraser Steel. The high backs are wonderfully supportive, but still comfortable enough to be able to curl up on in front of the TV of an evening.
To bring the cool grey (Dulux Polished Pebble) and white tones of the room to life, we’ve dressed this end of the room with flashes of yellow in the form of four big, snuggly John Lewis Isana Fusion Cushions in saffron (£30.00 each), and a fabulous Scion Mr Fox Rug in yellow (£310.00).
The room is just what we hope it would be. And with the neutral wall colour scheme, it will be so easy to switch the accent colours around should we choose to further down the line. For us, it’s perfect.
