It’s back! I spy something beginning with…G

After the rush has gone I hope you find a little more time…

Rejoice, rejoice, I Spy is BACK. Actually it’s been back in the blogosphere for weeks, but it’s the first time in a while that I’ve managed to take part. So, REJOICE!

So, my lovelies, what can you see in this photo that begins with the letter G?

The prize? Kudos! And maybe some lemon cake should we ever meet.

Shall we have a bit of fun? It’s that time again – time to say what you see. Here’s my #ISpy and it’s something – or some things – beginning with W. Can you see them?

London. Morning.

It’s a beautiful city. Breathtaking in places. I miss it terribly.

I’ve been out of the #ISpy a little but I’m back in the game and bringing you something beginning with H.

Can you guess? Of course you can.

Crafty kid’s chocolate Easter chicks

How to make chocolate Easter chicks

One of the chicks has got a mohawk! – JD, 4

These Easter chocolate chicks won’t win any awards for realism, but they are rather fun. Here’s how to make them.

How to make Easter chocolate chicks

Ingredients

  • 5 Cadbury Creme Eggs
  • 1 pack of orange flavour chocolate buttons (from the baking aisle)
  • 6 squares of cooking chocolate
  • 2 packs of white chocolate buttons
  • 2 packs of milk chocolate buttons
  • 1 black writing icing pen

Instructions

  • Melt the cooking chocolate and get a clean teaspoon ready
  • Turn a clean, empty mug or bowl upside down (this bit’s important!)
  • Place two orange buttons side by side on the upturned mug/bowl
  • Using the teaspoon, put a small blob of melted chocolate behind the two buttons, where they meet
  • Stick a cream egg on top, pointy end up
  • Using the melted chocolate as glue stick on:
    • Two white chocolate buttons for the eyes
    • One orange button, cut into a triangle for the beak (keep the offcuts)
    • Two milk chocolate buttons for the wings
    • One milk chocolate button for the tail at the back
  • Draw the pupils on with the icing pen
  • Repeat!
  • Allow the chicks to set and then free them from the bowl by turning it right way up again and filling with a little boiled water – carefully pull on the chick after a few seconds and it should come off whole.

If you’re feeling extra creative, you can use the offcuts to make a crest (JD made a full mohawk!) or different coloured writing icing pens for extra detail.

Enjoy!

(And because I haven’t joined in for a while, I’m also making this post my #ISpy for the week).

I spy with my little eye something beginning with B

Mummy, you look beeeeooootiful! – JD, 4

If you know me, you’ll know that I don’t really do ‘well-groomed’. The best you can expect is scruffy-chic, if that’s even a style. All this is a bit of a worry as I’m going to be speaking at Cybher 2012 where there will be fashion bloggers, beauty bloggers and yummy mummies everywhere.

I wonder if I should attempt a full makeover. On second thoughts, it wouldn’t be worth the punt – I’d be covered in crumbs and have jam and baby sick in my hair before I reached the stage.

Ahem, anyway, it’s time for #ISpy once again, and it’s something beginning with B – two things actually. Can you spot them?

Dried flowers

Are those flowers really old, mummy? – JD, 4

Being on maternity leave makes you see the world differently. Time passes differently. Different things matter.

This is the longest I’ve been away from full-time work since I was eighteen and *whispers* I like it. It’s giving me time to think about all sorts of things, not just work, that I’ve never had time to consider properly in the whirl of work itself.

I’m letting go of the fear of opportunities missed. The terror of going rusty or drying up.

Decisions will be made, but in good time, when the conditions are right.

And so, I spy with my little eye, something beginning with X. Something that might seem negative, but really only shows the passing of time from one sort of beauty to another.

Any guesses?

Ooh, I’m [some small number] visitors off [some round number]! – me

Blogging is not, not, not about the numbers. I actually don’t really care how many visits I’m getting…that is unless I happen to look and see I’m near a round number. 368 vs 863 reads? Who cares? But 993? No, no, no! You’ll find me glued to my live analytics at the turn of the day / week / month, willing seven more people drop in at the last minute and make it a nice round number. Lunacy.

So today is the day of @JBMumofOne‘s weekly meme, #ISpy and this week it’s something beginning with M – any guesses?
