I shouldn’t be eating chocolate at 1am – me
Oh, hello readers. Hopefully you’re here because you’ve spotted that I’m writing about chocolate and the very thought has got your mouth watering. Well I shan’t disappoint because, as luck would have it, this chocolate is really rather exceptional.
I don’t know about you but until recently, when I thought supermarket chocolate, I thought of gritty blocks of flavourless wax, probably with a lower percentage of cocoa solids than a jar of Vaseline. These days, not so. You can, in fact, get some very decent chocs under supermarkets’ own brands.
The chocolate range from Tesco is designed to offer ‘affordable luxury’, with a range of extravagant flavours costing from as little as £4.
The box of treats above contains a handful of genuinely delicious star-shaped blocks of creamy milk chocolate, topped with a drizzle of white chocolate and finished with perfectly crunchy ginger biscuit crumbs.
Apparently, the whole range is made with high-quality ingredients by the very same chocolatiers behind Hotel Chocolat and Harrods so I suppose with that in mind, yumminess is to be expected, yet this little 100g box of Tesco Collection Milk Chocolate Gingerbread Stars, with its attractive packaging will set you back only £4 – a bargain, clearly, and perfect for everyone’s Christmas stocking.
Moving on…this, my fellow chocaholics, is the fabulously festive Chokablok Cherry Merry Christmas.
This one is for those who like their chocolate bittersweet and fruity. Imagine taking a blackest of black forrest gateau and magically converting it to chocolate form and you’re pretty much there. This is 150G of smooth dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa solids), bitter dried cherries and crumbled brownie, with just a hint of extra sweetness from a swirl of white chocolate.
This is grown up chocolate for grown up tastes, except it’s in the shape of a tree, so there’s a bit of novelty value and giftability (yes, that’s a word*) in there too. A bargain at £5, I reckon.
*ok, it’s not a word, but it should be, right?
Disclosure: we were sent the tree and stars for review. No payment was received. All posts are 100% honest.
