Mix, mix, mix! – Miss J, 2
While it’s lovely to get kids involved in food prep, it’s not always practical. Sharp knives, hot pans and little fingers are not a winning combination, so Miss J is delighted to have a little portable kitchen of her own.
New toy brand, Bee Smart has just launched its first collection of wooden toys aimed at preschoolers, just in time for Christmas. The toys, which range from musical instruments to the kitchen you see featured, are designed to offer a great playtime experience while also helping to enhance fine motor skills.
The Portable Wooden Kitchen Set has an RRP of £35.99) and comes flat packed, although there are only a handful of screws needed to put it together. Once constructed, it’s creates a lovely little play area on any surface, complete with shelf, play clock, utensil hooks, spatula, spoon, two pans with lids, salt and pepper shakers with rattle noise, and hob dials that click when turned.
What’s really clever, though, is that when Miss J has finished playing, the splashback can be lifted out, the hob section flipped over and an instant carry case created, complete with handle.
Miss J has hers set up at the kitchen table while I’m cooking and makes up her own concoctions while I make mine – it’s a lovely way to spend time together.
I think the Bee Smart portable kitchen is a really clever, cute idea – great for families with limited space at home and perfect to take along on visits to relatives to make sure your preschooler is kept entertained.
