Would you like me to cut you some fruit? – Miss J, 2
Almondella has just launched in the UK and offers monthly subscription boxes containing up to five gifts at up to 50% off retail price. Designed to help new parents discover inspirational new brands for themselves and their baby, it could make a great gift during baby’s first year and beyond.
Almondella pick their favourite brands from throughout Europe each month to offer a box containing a combination of stylish and practical products, tailored to your child’s age (0-3 is catered for) and delivered direct to your door.
Our box contained a handful of milk chocolates, a little striped t-shirt, a little apron, a small tube of face cream, a Moomin shaped cookie cutter and, our favourite item in the box, a high quality box of wooden fruit, cut into sections and re-joined with velcro, so that Miss J can spend ours ‘cutting’ them with the supplied wooden knife and then putting them back together again. It was all very appropriate to us and her developmental stage, and genuinely felt like a thoughtful gift, rather than an anonymous box of random bits and bobs.
Subscriptions start from £37 a month and you simply specify the child’s gender and age (or mother’s due date) when you sign up. Postage is free inside Europe – a big plus as I find that’s often where the cost rockets for similar services.
If you like the sound of Almondella but would like a trial before signing up, you can also order a trial box for £12.

Disclosure: we were sent a trial box for review.
