They have BUGS on them! – JD, 5
Ordering shoes online always makes me a bit nervous as you can never be sure of the quality, but I’m really pleased so far with the quality of these Arachnid Black Leather Start-rite School Shoes (RRP £45), especially as the website lets you choose the size AND width.
From a distance, these shoes look pretty standard, right? Like nice, sensible school shoes with velcro straps? But look very closely and you’ll see the rubber toe has a raised pattern of creepy crawlies – what more could a little boy want!?
There’s also a luminous bug hiding towards the back near the heel and to top it off, this range currently comes with a little character you can attach to the straps, known as a Floppet – I’ve yet to find out if JD’s will be allowed to stay attached at school, but it’s a reasonably subtle embellishment.
Apparently, the dyed-through upper on the shoes means they should keep their colour even after scuffing. I’ll have to report back on how long they last as the school term hasn’t started yet, but so far, we’re very happy with JD’s Startrite Shoes.
The Great British Walk to School
Last week, Start-rite launched the Great British Walk to School (#GBW2S) to encourage as many parents and children as possible to consider walking either all, or part of the way to school this September.
Start-rite have created the film #WalkorDrive to raise awareness of the forthcoming wider campaign and get people thinking about their journey to school, ahead of the new term. As a non-driver, I actually flippin’ love this!
Disclosure: we were sent some Start-rite shoes for review. No payment was received. All posts are 100% honest.
