Can I open it? – Miss J, 2
I’ve written before about new monthly food box subscription service, Degustabox, which gives you the chance to discover 10 to 15 new, special or innovative food products from well known brands each month.
It’s such fun receiving a big box of mystery treats each month, so I’m pleased to offer you a chance to win April’s Degustabox for yourself. You won’t know what’s in it until it arrives!
To enter, just complete the widget below (if you can’t see it, hit refresh and wait, it should appear).
And now, here’s a look at what was in the February Degustabox…
Peppadew Piquanté Peppers Mild
I’d fully recommend having a jar of Peppadew Piquante Peppers in the cupboard. You can use these gluten free, zero calorie rated, hot and sweet peppers when ever you want to pep up salads, pizzas and snacks. They’re free from additives, preservatives and colourings and available in all major supermarkets, RRP £3.00.
Scheckter’s Organic Energy drinks ‘Original’ and ‘Light’
Scheckter’s Organic Energy drinks are packed full of caffeine, so they give you a similar boost to Red Bull, but unlike Red Bull, these drinks are 100% natural, organic, vegetarian, FairTrade, and Informed Sport certified drink. They’re tasty too, with aroun 40kcal per 100ml in the Original flavour and around 30kcal per 100ml in the ‘Lite’ option. RRP £1.35 per can.
Ryvita Thins Bites ‘Sweet Chilli’ and ‘Cheddar & Cracked Black Pepper’
Ryvita Thins Bites are really tasty. I love the sweet chilli version which is far hotter than I expected and just wonderful to enjoy with tomato soup. The pack says that a serving contains just 80 calories, but that means only eating a fifth of a pack and, frankly, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to stop there. RRP £1.89 per pack.
Soreen Malt Loaf ‘Toastie’
I’ve written on numerous occasions about what fans we are of Soreen. This month’s Degustabox contained one Soreen ready sliced ‘Toastie’ malt loaf – so darn good toasted and buttered as it’s squidy and full of juicy raisins (RRP £1.39) .
Soreen Lunchbox Loaves
These little banana favour Soreen bars are perfect for lunch boxes. They are delicious and contain real banana, meaning they’re only 95 calories. All that goodness means I feel marginally less guilty when I spread them with Nutella. RRP £1.35
Bahlsen PiCK UP! bars and Waffletten
The kids really like the new Bahlsen PiCK UP! bars, which offer a thick layer of milk chocolate between two crumbly, sweet biscuits. They’re individually wrapped, so perfect for lunchboxes and you can pick them up in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Morrisons. RRP £1.60.
Bahlsen Waffeletten Dark Chocolate
These Bahlsen Waffeletten are a crispy, delicate little rolls of wafer-like biscuit, dipped in dark chocolate. They are above average biscuits and impossibly moreish. RRP £1.65.
The English Provender Co Chutney and Sauce
The English Provender Co Damson & Port Chutney is so darn good, especially if you dip a Chilli Ryvita Thin Bite into it *swoon*. You get the tart, strongly plummy flavour first, then the ruby port, leaving a slightly spicy aftertaste that begs for a good crusty bread and creamy camembert to accompany it. RRP £2.00.
The Redcurrant & Rosemary Sauce is a delicious take on redcurrant sauce with that addition of milled rosemary. Serve it up with the Sunday roast and it’s sure to go down well. RRP £1.60.
Tyrell’s Apple Crisps ‘Proudly Plain’ and ‘Smashingly Cinnamony’
I’ve never really liked apple crisps because I’ve always found them to be unpleasantly tough – like eating flavoured plastic. Not so with Tyrell’s Apple Crisps, which are crisp but not at all plasticky and really, really tasty. We use the whole apple so not a morsel of the fruit goes to waste, even leaving their smart red coats on, so they look (as well as taste) fantastic! Perfect with a morning coffee or as a sweet treat in the afternoon, I’m super keen on the Smashingly Cinnamony flavour – pick them for yourself in Sainsbury’s. RRP £1.15 per pack.
That’s my look inside the February Degustabox. Don’t forget to complete the widget above for a chance to win April’s box for yourself.
