So, we’re half way through the school holidays. The kids have eaten us out of house and home, I’m not getting a single minute’s peace to get any proper work done, there are crisps down the back of the sofa and a dent in the wall that definitely wasn’t there in July.
There is no doubt that the kids are running us ragged, yet we are loving every minute. Why? Because, of course, this is the precious time we get to do things together as a family in the sunshine. August is prime memory-making month and we’re doing just that.
We’ve been to the zoo, climbed and tumbled around dozens of parks, hit the beach, visited relatives, toured museums, built dens, toasted marshmallows, giggled in the cinema, baked in the kitchen and just had so much fun.
Part of me can’t wait to get back to a bit of routine and peace, of course, but that’s just going to make September all the more emotional. As JD would tell you, the first day back to school will be happy-sad.
I reckon the team at Cath Kidston have got that feeling down to a tee in their new video. I may have shed a tear or two while watching it.
How are you feeling about having passed the Summer holidays half-way mark? Let me know in the comments.
