It’s sales season! To make the most of it, I headed to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet East Midlands to pick out an outfit for New Year’s Eve.
McArthurGlen’s six centres are leading destinations for outlet shopping across Europe. In the UK, these are: Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet near Manchester (Europe’s first designer outlet and still the UK’s largest), Ashford Designer Outlet (just 37 minutes from London by train), Bridgend Designer Outlet (Wales’ largest), East Midlands Designer Outlet near Nottingham, Swindon Designer Outlet and York Designer Outlet.
The outlets are home to more than 250 of the most sought-after names in premium, designer and luxury fashion, offering year-round savings of up to 60% off RRP from amazing brands such as Kurt Geiger, Hugo Boss, Gap, Calvin Klein, Jaegar, Lacoste Radley and Tommy Hilfiger.
When Mark and I arrived on site, we were there with one main mission – to find ourselves something fabulous for the festive season – but first, we stopped off for a delicious lunch at Pizza Express.
With full tummies, it was time to get down to some serious shopping. McArthurGlen Designer Outlets have brilliant discounts on offer across all the stores on site, all year round, but at this time of year there’s even more opportunities to save in the sales.
Check out this sparkly Fiorelli bag – a total steal at £23.60. That’s 60% off!
The sales in Kurt Geiger were incredible. I found some very Cinderella-like glittery shoes in either gold or silver, marked down from £70 to £34! As you can see, I was smitten.
I had to try on these lush black boots too, marked down from £79 to £59. That’s the expression of a girl who knows she’s about to buy a lot of shoes.
And I fell totally head over heels (ha!) in love with these soft, velvety boots with a gold heel, slashed from £180 to just £39!
We went to look at a bit of bling next. I’m not really one to wear jewellery day-to-day, so for the season, I decided to go BIG!
Getting some gorgeous quality, designer, yet affordable accessories in the bag (literally) was easy, so now it was time to choose the main outfit. I was thinking of either playing it safe in black jeans and a sparkly top, or going all out with a show-stopping glittery dress. The hunt was on.
Every single store we visited was offering huge reductions, which meant I had a LOT to try on.
And a lot to buy, yet I still had plenty in my purse – that’s the beauty of sales prices!
OK so here’s the big reveal… this is what I settled on. What do you think? I love that it’s super sparkly, floor-length and way more dressy that anything I’d usually wear.
I even bought something to cosy up in when I get home.
With my outfit sorted, it was time for a quick break before heading home.
I had the most brilliant time – it’s so easy to find what you want when so much is discounted and you have so many great brands in one place.
Would I go again? Of course! In fact, once the kids have totalled up their Christmas and birthday money, we’ll all be going back together! The winter sales are on until 28th January.
Aside from the bargains, what I really love about McArthurGlen outlets is that they’re not just a place to shop, they’re somewhere to relax, eat and enjoy yourself too. The inviting surroundings, pedestrian-only streets, and plenty of benches and greenery remind me of the way high streets used to be. The centres also host free entertainment throughout the year, such as festivals and concerts, and there are dedicated children’s play areas at every centre, so you really can make a day of it.
Will you be heading to a McArthurGlen Designer Outlet to bag yourself a bargain? Let me know what you’ll be shopping for!
