Step one will be to give all of the walls a lick of bright, white paint. We want a clean base that will reflect as much light as possible and keep our mood elevated.
To warm the walls up, we’ll be keeping the picture wall we already have back up, and accenting the chimney breast with this gorgeous, peacock-themed Pendleton wallpaper from Graham and Brown.
We’ll need lots of storage, so fitted shelves are being installed next week either side of the chimney breast. We’re hoping for a bare wood result, something like these Redford House shelves. Meanwhile a free-standing storage/shelf unit – something like this Magis bookshelf – will be tucked up against the remaining wall and should help keep work odds and ends tidied away, with the printer, scanner and other electronics living on top, thus keeping desk space clear.
For comfort, and since the room will continue to double as a guest bedroom, we’ll have this Twickenham Click Clack Sofabed in Black, set against the picture covered feature wall, and we’ll dress with cream, brown and peacock-green cushions, like these by Orla Kiely.
I’m really excited to get started.
