They’re cool and they are your favourite colour – JD, 5
Back in ‘the day’, before I got a bit boring, I used to skip around in brightly coloured tights, Dr Martens boots and all manner of weird and wonderful dresses.
Fast forward ten years and I’ve gone to seed. But then one morning, I was sitting in a baggy t-shirt and ill fitting jeans, catching up on my emails and bemoaning my inexplicable (cake driven) weight gain, when I heard from Cloggs, the online shoe store. Would I, they asked, like to choose some shoes to review and blog about the experience of shopping with them?
Now, I’m a sensible sort – always was, even when I wore oversized hoodies as dresses – so my first thought was to look for some smart heels for meetings, or perhaps some walking boots for the school run and weekend adventures. But then I landed on the site and there, staring back at me, was the footwear of my youth, the Dr Martens boot.
And as if that wasn’t enough, a quick search revealed they had them in purple *gasp*. I created an account (very easy, one click, one short form, done) and emailed the link I would have ordered. Shortly after, my order confirmation arrived, and then next day, the DMs landed. The service from Cloggs can’t be faulted.
I put them on and I felt good. I’ve kept them on. They’re good boots. They’re my kind of boots. Not boring me, ME me. And I love them. They need breaking in. That will hurt, but it’s all part of the DM experience.
So, what do you think? You like? And more importantly, can you relate to my loss of fashion self? If someone handed you an order form, what would you reclaim from your old-days style?
Disclosure: I was sent the DMs free of charge for review. No payment was received for this post. All posts are 100% honest.
