Mummy! You look posh and pretty – JD, 5
It’s always a sign of a well-stocked e-retailer when you go on to the site with a voucher to spend and manage to populate your basket with choices within 5 minutes. Zalando has some really, really pretty clothes.
Armed with a £50 voucher, I selected a brown knitted Anna Field Dress and some incredible Even&Odd platformed, knee-high brown suede boots with an outrageous 5.5″ heel. They arrived next working day with free delivery.
The boots were discounted from £75 down to £28 and the dress was discounted down from £42 to £34. Ok, ok I spent a little over £50 at £62 for the whole outfit, but still – what a bargain, eh?
The boots are a 6.5 – that’s the size I’m supposed to be, but it’s often a gamble with online purchases. With these boots, there’s toe space and they don’t rub, so I think the sizing is spot on. There’s plenty of room for larger calves – I have quite a lot of muscle on my upper calf and they are still loose on me and the zip runs from foot to mid-way up the boot, so there’s no problem with the zipper top snagging on tights, which often seems to happen with a full length zip.
While I wouldn’t wear ankle breakers like these every day, they were quite comfortable after a day’s wear and didn’t scuff during a couple of bus rides and a day at work, although I’ve since given them a spray with suede protector to help them last.
I’m delighted with the fit and quality of the dress. It’s a size 10 (I’m generally a 10 but some shops have teeny sizings), breathable, comfortable, with a flattering shape and room to move. The stitching lines run down the outer edges of my chest down to the hem, which I think contributes to the flattering way it falls. The pattern is slimming too, I think, and the length is perfect for work as it just skims my knee, although I’m 5’9 so it may sit slightly lower if you’re average height.
All in all, I’m really happy with my choices and I’d recommend going and checking out the Zalando website – there’s a lovely summer range of dresses up there now, so I’m just waiting for pay day…
