Earlier this week, I hopped on a train to London and attended the glitzy launch of a brand new premium collection from London’s leading independent jeweller, SWAG.
The beautiful Circle of Life Collection comprises of a series of elegant, timeless earrings, pendants and rings in orbital designs of diamond, emerald, sapphire, pink sapphire and ruby, ranging in price from £595 to £850.
Each piece is designed to be given as a present to a new mother – something to become a treasured memento of a pivotal moment in their family lives.
As I tried on the rings and draped the pendants over my hand, I thought about the glow of triumph and relief I felt after giving birth and could understand completely why jewellery is such a natural choice of gift for a new mum. It’s a keepsake from that time, whether the birth is peaceful and happy or confusing and scary (and I’ve been through both kinds), a keepsake reminds us that we got through it – a small, glittering celebration of motherhood.
The Circle of Life collection has been launched to celebrate SWAG’s official partnership with government initiative, ‘Your Parent Guide‘, which also launches this week. The guide will be given to all new mums upon the registration of their baby, and includes a combination of essential information for new parents, contact details for key agencies, and a range of handy tips and guides.
A crucial aim of the new Your Parent Guide is to provide support to address the crippling affects of post-natal depression, which the NHS believes affects 10-15% of new mothers in the UK every year.
To this end, SWAG have also partnered with PANDAS, a national charity dedicated to providing pre and post-natal depression advice and support to individuals and their families.
SWAG’s partnership with PANDAS will see 20% of all proceeds from the Circle of Life collection go to this very worthy cause, which Claire from the charity explained will fund greater support for those affected, and help raise awareness and shatter the taboo around PND that sees too many suffer in silence.
It shouldn’t feel shameful to say you need help. Depression shouldn’t be something any woman ever feels she has to hide from those around her. It’s an illness, and I believe much more needs to be done to help those in need, so I am fully behind this partnership.
I’ll be taking you through a closer look at each of the beautiful pieces in the Circle of Life collection next week, but in the meantime, find out more by visiting the SWAG website today.
