It never ceases to amaze me how different my children’s experience of TV entertainment is from my own. Growing up, we had four channels, and shows for kids were generally limited to a small window between
My brother and I would come downstairs in our PJs, bringing our duvets with us in winter, and curl up ready for Saturday morning TV. Spider-Man was our favourite, with it’s detailed, far-spanning story arcs. I remember a little pic of him used to pop up in the corner, “15 minutes until Spider-Man!” – we loved it.
These days, children don’t have to wait for a small window of opportunity to watch the shows they love. There are channels dedicated to entertaining them with their favourite shows, that they can dip into any time of the day!
POP is just such a channel, screening some of the world’s most successful franchises including Pokémon, Power Rangers, and Lego Nexo Knights, all day long, so kids can dip in whenever suits them and find something great to watch.
I know some parents worry about kids having too much screen time, but in our house we find that having good programming to turn to when they want means that our kids can make the most of their screen-time allowance, rather than vegging out in front of shows they’re not interested in, waiting
