The way we decorate our homes, the decisions we make about comfort, practicality and aesthetic can reveal a lot about who we are. So says, Hiscox, who recently enlisted the help of celebrity psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos to evaluate the homes of selected lifestyle bloggers.
For my evaluation, I chose the photo above, which is peek into the monochrome haven we created for our master bedroom earlier this year.
So what did Dr Linda have to say about our decor choices?
This whole picture is about calm, the clean lines, the lack of clutter and the choice of monochrome speak in the most positive sense of the word to the simplicity that we crave in life – the beautiful Twain quote a reminder that it is we that sometimes try and overcomplicate things. I can imagine that the person who designed this room is someone who makes an effort to reflect on life- and who values those things like space and clarity that we so often forget to.
I think that’s pretty spot on. The pic represents my favourite aspect of our home. The monochrome style of our master bedroom represents a very conscious effort to bring calmness and simplicity to our lives and this is indeed intended to be reflected in the Mark Twain quote we have leaning against the wall. Each night before we fall asleep and each morning when we wake up, it’s a reminder to let go of stress, enjoy life and embrace what really matters.
