I’ve written often about our interior design projects, but one dream that’s a long way from becoming a reality is to have a kitchen that meets my very high expectations. Come on, I’m a food writer! I pretty much live in my kitchen, so this is something I think about a lot.
What would my dream kitchen look like? Something like this…
I would love a shiny white kitchen, reflecting pure light onto everything I cooked. Obviously, in this dream situation, I’d also have a super-efficient robot cleaner whose sole purpose was to keep it that way ;)
An island and breakfast bar
Space to cook and socialise at the same time would be so lovely. At the moment, cooking usually means running back and forth between the kitchen and lounge, half missing conversations as I juggle our limited counter space.
A double oven and stove
When I’m testing recipes and cooking several versions at once, oh, this would be so useful! And it just looks awesome, too – don’t you think?
Lots of natural light
No squinting at recipe books or battling low light for photography, and wouldn’t it be a gorgeously positive start to the day to make your morning cuppa while flooded in natural light?
Lots of neat, well thought-out storage
I love my current kitchen, but it is small and filled with clutter. None of the storage is fit for purpose so opening the cupboards means dicing with death (ok, not death, but the risk of a sieve landing on your head). A custom designed kitchen with lots of storage would really be a dream come true!
If you’re thinking about renovating your kitchen, what changes would you make? Have already fantasised about colour schemes and nosed around the net at marble worktops?
