Disney Planes 2: Blade Ranger Sausage Rolls

Smokey ketchup and simple sausage rolls in honour of Blade Ranger.

Ingredients

  • 1 pack of ready-roll puff pastry
  • 6 good quality pork or vegetarian sausages
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds
  • 1 medium egg beaten
  • A few drops of red food colouring
  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2-2 tsp smoked paprika

Instructions

  • Take the pastry out of the fridge 15 minutes before you make your rolls
  • Unroll the pastry and cut into six equal rectangles, then use each rectangle to wrap a sausage. Press along the seam to seal
  • Transfer onto a greaseproof baking sheet, seam side down.
  • In a bowl, beat the egg with the food colouring, then brush all over the rolls
  • Use the flax seeds to form the number '301' on each
  • Bake at 200C/390F (180C/355F fan assisted) for around 15 minutes until golden with a red tinge from the colouring - put a skewer in the end of one to ensure the sausage is cooked right through to the middle, then set aside to cool
  • To make the ketchup smoky, mix it with a little of the smoked paprika, then stop and taste - if you think your kids can handle it with a little more fire, keep adding the paprika!
  • Transfer your ketchup to pots in small, lunchbox friendly portions.
