  • 130 g butter softened
  • 50 ml golden syrup
  • 160 g caster sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1/2 tsp red food colouring gel
  • 235 g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 280 g Hershey’s Kisses Cookies’n’Creme

  • Preheat the oven to 200C (180C fan assisted, 400F)
  • Beat the butter, syrup and sugar together until pale and fluffy
  • Add the egg, vanilla essence and food colouring and beat again
  • Sieve in the flour and baking powder and fold through until fully combined
  • If the dough is too sticky to work with at this stage, chill it in the fridge for 10 minutes
  • Line a baking sheet with baking parchment (greaseproof paper) and roll balls of dough that are just a tiny bit wider in diameter than the bottom of a Hershey kiss – place of the baking sheet approx 1 inch apart
  • Bake in oven for just 6 minutes, meanwhile unwrap your Hershey kisses
  • As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, push a kiss into the centre of each one, pushing down gently – the heat will bond the chocolate to the cookie. Don’t press a second time and it will get messy
  • Leave to cool completely, then store in an airtight container
