Learning to ride a bike is one of life’s big milestones. It will be fresh in your memory if you’ve recently let go of the saddle for one of your children, or maybe you remember your own first set of wheels?
There’s a whole host of memories like this attached to ‘things’ – whether it’s your first bike, photographs, children’s drawings, souvenirs or a family heirloom. And while these possessions are unlikely to have the financial value to attract would-be thieves, they could get damaged or lost in a burglary, so a big part of home security is about protecting these irreplaceable things, and the home that stores so many memories of its own, tangible and intangible.
Home security specialist Yale has launched ‘Bike Ride’ – the second short film in their ‘Yale it’ series, part of their wider campaign encouraging homeowners to protect the memories that make a house a home.
The video shows the magical moment when mum (or dad!) can finally let go of the saddle, and the little’un can ride free. It’s a very special, unforgettable moment that my son, JD, recently achieved and I couldn’t stop talking about afterwards.
There’s no sinister turn in these short films. It’s simply about getting you thinking about the value of your home beyond replaceable items, so that you can consider whether additional security steps, such as investing in a house alarm, or changing your locks when you move is a good idea to help keep your home (and the memories it holds) protected.
