    Brownie Icing Recipe

    Jump to Recipe

Want to take your brownies to the next level? It's easy! You'll need just four ingredients and 5 minutes to produce a creamy, rich, delicious chocolate brownie icing.

Whether you like your brownies nutty, minty, stuffed with cookies or candy bars, or full of chocolate chips, a good chocolate buttercream can add a cool, luscious je ne c'est quoi that will have everyone asking for the recipe.

To make this brownie icing recipe, you'll start by measuring icing sugar (powdered sugar) cocoa, room temperature butter and milk into a bowl.

You'll then grab your electric whisk and start slowly beating the mixture.

As it starts to come together, you'll crank up the whisk speed, beating until you have a gorgeously light and creamy frosting.

There are so many ways to enjoy this brownie icing and since it only takes 5 minutes - it's worth it every time!

Read on for the full recipe with detailed instructions and a helpful photograph for every step. And if you have any questions, just leave me a comment. Enjoy!

This should make enough frosting to spread on top of a full medium tray of brownies (e.g. any of my full batch brownie recipes).

    Ingredients

    • 265 g (2 cups) icing sugar (powdered sugar)
    • 65 g (½ cup) cocoa powder (dutch processed)
    • 100 g (7 tbsp) salted butter room temperature, cubed and softened
    • 1 tbsp whole milk

    Equipment

    • Weighing scales
    • Measuring spoons
    • Electric whisk
    • Silicone spatula

    Instructions

Sift the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a bowl.

Add cubed butter and 2 teaspoon of milk.

Whisk slowly until it starts to clump, then speed up and whip until the frosting is light and creamy. If it seems too thick, you can whisk in more milk, a few drops at a time.

To use, spread thickly onto chilled brownies before slice.

Once you've given my recipe a go, I'd love you to come back and leave a comment letting me know how yours turned out.
