How to Make Croutons in the Air Fryer

    Jump to Recipe

It's really easy to make croutons in the air fryer and they're so crunchy and delicious to serve with soups and salads, you'll be making them all the time.

To make them, you only need bread (stale or fresh), olive oil, salt and pepper. Then you'll simply cut or tear the bread into chunks, toss in the oil and seasoning, and toast in the air fryer.

The croutons come out impossibly light and crunchy - I could eat a bowlful by itself!

They're perfect for serving in a chicken Caesar salad and make the whole dish seem extra special.

Read on for the full recipe with detailed instructions and a helpful photograph for every step. And if you have any questions, just leave me a comment. Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 400 g (14.1 oz) unsliced white bread (half a large loaf)
    • ½ tsp (0.5 tsp) salt
    • ½ tsp (0.5 tsp) black pepper
    • 5 tbsp olive oil

    Equipment

    • Chopping board
    • Bread knife
    • Large bowl
    • Air fryer

    Instructions

The easiest type of bread to use for this recipe is a standard white tin loaf with straight sides, because it's easy to cut into cubes, but you can use absolutely any bread you like, including bread with additions such as nuts and seeds.

Thinly slice the crusts of all sides of the bread, so you're just left with the inner crumb.

Cut the bread in 2cm-3cm (1 inch) cubes. You can tear them if you prefer.

Place the bread cubes in the air fryer basket.

Add in the olive oil, salt and pepper.

    Toss to coat evenly.

Set the air fryer to 160C/320F and bake for 25 minutes, shaking every 5 or so minutes until golden and crunchy.

If you're adding them to a salad, allow them to cool before serving.

And once you've given your favourite recipe a go, I'd love you to come back and leave a comment on the recipe page letting me know how yours turned out.
