It takes mere minutes to make an air fryer tortilla pizza, and it tastes fantastic, complete with a thin, crisp base and whatever toppings you fancy.
Any tortilla will work for this recipe. I use flour tortillas, but any type of soft wrap will work.
Corn tortillas will result in something that is a little more of an overtly Italian-Mexican fusion, and you could also experiment with flavoured tortillas. I've seen beetroot, spinach and tomato tortillas in my local large supermarket.
To make your air fryer tortilla pizzas, you can use any tomato sauce you like. I tend to use a herby passata as I think it makes for the tastiest shortcut, but you could also use leftover pasta sauce, or just some blended or crushed tomatoes. You could even use ketchup, but personally I think ketchup on pizza tastes revolting, so I wouldn't recommend it.
With the sauce spread on your pizza, you'll sprinkle with cheese. I like a combination of shredded mozzarella and mature (sharp) cheddar. Mozzarella cheese brings wonderful melty, stretchy and creaminess, and the cheddar ramps up the flavour.
If you're making a tortilla pizza in the air fryer, you're already saving so much time by not having to make dough or heat the big oven that I'd encourage you to do something extra tasty with the toppings. It still needn't be complicated!
In this recipe, you'll top your pizza with thinly sliced red peppers, red onions, and green pesto, which looks, smells and tastes incredible. You'll also add a drizzle of olive oil, which helps to ensure you get a evenly cooked top to you pizza.
Each pizza takes 3-5 minutes to bake, depending on how well done you like it. I've included enough ingredients for four in the recipe, because I'm guessing you're going to want enough to feed everybody.
Doesn't it look gorgeous. It tastes great too - you won't be disappointed!
